Cihan University: 2.4M reach and hundreds of leads from one campaign

By PI · Updated · 6 min read

Short answer

PI planned and managed a campaign for Cihan University that reached more than 2.4 million people across Iraq, earned over 300,000 engagements and generated hundreds of leads. This page explains how we run a campaign like this, from audience research to weekly reporting.

The brief

Cihan University needed more than awareness. A university campaign has a clear end point: prospective students and their families asking for information, visiting, and applying. Reach matters, but only if it turns into conversations.

PI managed the campaign. Below is the process we use for campaign management, which is how a campaign like this is run.

Why a university campaign is different

The buyer is rarely one person. A prospective student, their parents and sometimes an older sibling all influence the decision, and they respond to different messages. Content has to speak to ambition and to reassurance at the same time.

The decision also has a calendar. Interest builds towards application deadlines and intake dates, so the campaign has to be planned backwards from those dates rather than run evenly across the year. Both of these shape how we segment audiences and sequence content for any education client.

How we manage a campaign

Our campaign management process is the same whether the client is a university, a consumer brand or a program. It has five steps.

  • Audit and research. We review existing accounts, competitors and audience data to find the gaps and the opportunities.
  • Audience strategy. We define who the campaign needs to reach and split them into measurable segments, with retargeting planned from the start.
  • Creative testing. Several versions of copy, visuals and formats go live. The ones that perform stay, the rest are switched off.
  • Launch and scale. When something works, we give it more budget and expand the audience around it.
  • Report and optimize. The client gets a weekly report with the metrics that matter, while we keep adjusting the campaign.

Turning reach into leads

We build lead campaigns as a path rather than a single ad. Awareness content introduces the client to a broad audience. Engagement content, including posts that invite questions and shares, brings the most interested people closer. Lead content then gives those people a simple next step.

Retargeting does a lot of the work. People who engage with early content are shown the next piece, so the audience that reaches the lead stage has already seen the brand several times.

We set up conversion tracking before launch, so leads can be attributed and budget can move towards the creative and audiences that produce inquiries rather than just impressions.

The results

The campaign reached more than 2.4 million people across Iraq and earned over 300,000 engagements. Most importantly, it brought Cihan University hundreds of leads: real people asking about programs and admission.

What other organizations can take from this

  • Decide what a lead is before you launch. A form, a message, a call. If it is not defined and tracked, you cannot optimize towards it.
  • Build a path, not a post. Awareness, engagement and lead content do different jobs. Plan all three and connect them with retargeting.
  • Test creative properly. Run several variations and let the numbers choose. The best-performing ad is rarely the one the team expected.
  • Move budget weekly. Campaigns that are set and forgotten waste money on audiences and creative that stopped working.
  • Ask for reports you can act on. Reach and engagement are context. Leads, cost per lead and what changed this week are the decisions.

A lead is a person who takes the action agreed with the client, such as submitting a form or starting a conversation.

After a free call we come back with a plan. Research, audience setup and creative production come first, then launch. The exact timeline depends on how much creative needs to be produced.
